National Epilepsy Awareness Month

In 2003, Congress declared November as National Epilepsy Awareness Month in an effort to end the stigma surrounding the disorder, and generate compassion and understanding for people who live with epilepsy.

Each year, people all around the country just like you are finding ways to get involved and show their support for epilepsy awareness. And as that awareness grows, our voice becomes stronger. Together, we can help create change for those who live with epilepsy every day.

Here’s how to start:

Go purple. Wear any shade of purple to show your support. Get creative with purple ribbons, purple T-shirts, purple shoelaces – the possibilities are endless!

Get social. Share epilepsy-related information on your social media channels, or change your profile picture to an epilepsy awareness theme for the month of November.

Start moving. Participate in an epilepsy awareness walk or run, and commit to join our annual Strides for Epilepsy 5K events.

Speak Up, Speak Out. Encourage your Congressional representatives to act on legislation that affects individuals with epilepsy.
