Welcome to Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado!

We are the leader in empowering, connecting, and educating to improve the lives of everyone affected by epilepsy.

We are here for YOU!

We empower people affected by epilepsy with knowledge, resources, and advocacy to live their best lives.  We connect people to healthcare providers, support networks, and a listening ear. And we educate schools, employers, and the community at large, to reduce stigma and raise awareness.  For more than 50 years, we have remained committed to our mission, and we will not rest until we achieve a world free from seizures.

Our Mission

The Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives.

We are a non-profit, charitable agency, designated as a 501 (c) 3 organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Our History

When her grandchild was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1964, Dr. Harriet Hunter incorporated the Colorado Epilepsy Association because there were no support services available for youth with epilepsy. Working out of her basement, Dr. Hunter and a group of loyal, dedicated volunteers began providing counseling and support to those impacted by epilepsy, while also educating the public about seizure disorders.

As the organization grew and permanent staff was hired and offices were established, the Association moved towards affiliation with the nationally recognized Epilepsy Foundation and changed its name to The Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado. This pivotal relationship expanded our capacity to share critical resources while ensuring the Foundation’s fiscal independence and identity as a nonprofit serving the needs of individuals and families living with epilepsy in Colorado.

In the decades since our founding, the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado has earned a reputation of excellence as an advocacy organization on the cutting edge of life changing programming, resource development and sharing, and nexus for educational tools for those living with epilepsy as well as those seeking to effectively serve and assist this underserved and often misunderstood population.

For more than half a century, the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado has brought hope and opportunities to thousands of children, adults and their families, friends and caregivers struggling with the profound effects of epilepsy. We empower through advocacy, education, and giving a voice to those who heroically battle epilepsy disorders.
